Datacenter Days
March 18 (Zoetermeer, Netherlands, English) 🌟 March 19 (Zellik, Belgium, English)
We are pleased to invite you to our seminar “Optimizing Datacenters”. During this seminar, we will present solutions for certifying, controlling, and optimizing datacenters, based on our core business: test and measurement.
Agenda
09.15-09.30 Introduction
09.30-10.20 Fast and accurate certification of high-density cabling
- AI hyperscale datacenters require high-density cabling, but not without challenges. Nicholas Cole will shed light on the realities of hyperscale cabling—getting it right the first time with proper tools and preparation.
- Where do the most common issues arise, and how can they be prevented or resolved? How can you efficiently and accurately certify your fiber optic cables? All these questions will be answered.
- Bio: Nicholas Cole, As a Business Development manager for the DATACENTERS in Europe. Nicholas has spent the past 15 years working with fiber optic test equipment and cabling systems in a variety of roles across sales, marketing, and product management. Nicholas holds a BA in Business Management and is a member of the British Standards Institution for fiber optics.
10.20-11.10 Successfully and quickly identify and solve network issues
- Success comes with its challenges, but how can we overcome them? Network connections can sometimes go down for various reasons, both internal as well as external. Internal issues can be solved quickly, but what about external issues ?
- LCL, together with it’s Fibervision solution, offers a reliable way to quickly identify and resolve these issues, no matter where they occur.
- Bio: Noah Peeters. Customer Officer at LCL. LCL offers its data center services to customers worldwide in different sectors. Together with a passionate team, LCL strives to provide top-notch customer intimacy and optimal connectivity. LCL Data Centers is known for being a verry reliable, available and connected data center company. It consists of 5 independent data centers in Belgium. Â With experience in the field is Noah at LCL the perfect technical representative to the customer.
11.10-11.25 Break
11.25-12.15 Challenges of Moving to 800G and 1.6T
- Ethernet technology has not fundamentally changed yet the transmission speeds continue to increase…
- Transceivers are becoming ‘active network components’ and are far from ‘just simple electrical to optical adaptors’…
- This workshop will explore those evolutions and the related challenges of moving to ever higher data rates primarily driven by Hyperscalers & Datacentres
- Bio: Neil Hobbs is EXFO EMEA’s Technical Sales Support and Strategic Business Manager, has been involved in the telecom test & measurement industry for around 30 years. He started with Wandel & Goltermann (later Acterna (Now Viavi)) supporting all types of telecom transport & datacom testing from L1 to L3, including legacy PDH & SDH to Ethernet and Fiber Channel as well as synchronization, supporting up to 10G. In 2004, Neil joined EXFO as a Transport & Datacom specialist providing technical pre and post-sales support to the EMEA sales team. Neil now has responsibility to provide business development and technical sales support for all EXFO’s Test & Measurement solutions within the Network Deployment & Operations business unit but specializing in transport & datacom. EXFO’s solution focus towards traditional service providers is now expanded to also include Datacenter & Enterprise, Private Networks and RAN & Mobile networks, supporting technologies and solutions up to 800G with 1.6T on the horizon.
12.15-13.00 Lunch
13.00-13.50 It’s a matter of scale: Deployment of PTP at Meta Data Centers
- In the last 5 years, Meta have deployed high accuracy PTP in their data centers. This talk discusses how they implemented PTP without interrupting operations and how this affected their design choices. We will discuss how greater sync accuracy improves the efficiency of distributed data base management and the additional benefits they have realised during their journey.
- Bio: Bryan Hovey, Senior Product Manager Calnex Solutions. Bryan manages the network synchronisation products at Calnex. Bryan has over two decades experience in managing test and measurement products. At Calnex, Bryan has had the privilege to work with people in many different industries who are facing the challenges of implementing synchronisation in their networks.
13.50-14.40 Malfunction or breakdown of computing, network, storage and power management equipment caused by electrical issues.
- Most of the electrical power consumption in a data center results in distorted current. In combination with the upstream grid, it causes distortion of the voltage. This can sometimes lead to malfunctioning or even premature failure of electrical components.
- This presentation will shed a light on these specific Power Quality issues, with a focus on the design and operation of critical components within the electrical installation, such as UPS systems and/or backup generators.
- Practical tips and tricks will be provided to keep distortion within acceptable limits.
- Bio:Â Lukas is a Power Quality engineer at ATS Group with four years of experience in measuring and analyzing electrical systems. He is currently pursuing a PhD on the impact of reduced Power Quality on backup generators.
